For the formal report, you will explore a problem that exists on UC Davis’s campus that you think needs to be changed or improved. After conducting both primary and secondary research, you will submit a formal report where you analyze and draw conclusions from your findings to make a recommendation(s) to remedy the problem you’ve identified. In doing so, you’ll have to consider who the appropriate audience for your report is and craft your report in a manner that will prove persuasive to them.
You could, for example, propose to change the layout of a computer lab. Or you could propose to change the way the Student Academic Success Center serves students. In your formal report, you are not only required to describe the current problem/need, but also to propose a specific, realistic plan to implement change based on your research.
