This week, you read stories with unexpected endings and/or plot “twists.”
For this assignment, you will:
Reflect on Wharton’s “Roman Fever” and Jones’ The Memory of Mars.
Write a 750 – 1,000 word (750 words minimum) analysis (details below!) Note: You analysis must be at least 750 words, in order to earn points for this assignment. Fewer than 750 words will equal a zero (0) for this assignment.
You must include at least 1 direct quote from each story to support your discussion.
No Works Cited is needed for this assignment, but you must properly cite any lines you use from the stories. Review proper MLA formatting for citing quotes.
Do not do “outside” research! This is not a research paper. You will use your knowledge of the elements below, which you have learned about in class, to analyze the stories, per the instructions below.
1. Write a well-developed 750-to-1,000 word (750 word minimum) analysis that discusses all of the items below:
Setting – How did setting affect your involvement with the stories? Did the setting draw you in to the story? Did it make the story believable?
Conflict & “Twist”! – What were the conflicts of the main characters? How were the conflicts resolved? Was the conflict resolution part of the “twist”?
Your reaction – Which story did you enjoy the most – and why?, Which story did you enjoy the least – and why? , Share any other reactions/thoughts you have about the two stories.
