Performance measurement

Performance measurement occurs in many businesses, including public budgeting. A nation-wide survey of county governments found that governments employ performance measurement in a variety of budgeting capacities. The results suggest that users of performance measurement procedures customarily experience technical problems with conducting the analysis and gaining support from the government and citizens.
